Tri County Racetrack

Press Release

With the start of the 2022 Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Series schedule - the most lucrative in the history of the miniseries - on the horizon, officials at Tri-County Race Track are very pleased to announce that even more purse money will be added for the cars and stars racing with the tour this year.

Originally paying $4,053 to the winner on Thursday, July 28, the Brasstown, North Carolina oval will now boast a $7,553 payday thanks to additional race sponsorship. Round ten of the Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Series at Tri-County Race Track will now have a total purse of over $24,000 and the event will pay $450 just to start.

The Tarheel State bullring has hosted nine previous Southern Nationals Series races and has produced seven different winners including: Benji Cole ('05), Casey Roberts ('06), Chris Madden ('07), Casey Roberts ('15), Shanon Buckingham ('16), Brandon Overton ('17), Jake Knowles ('19), Chris Madden ('20), and Kenny Collins ('21). Collins won an entertaining contest last season over a top five that included runner-up Donald McIntosh, Cody Overton, Shawn Chastain, and David Payne.

Joining the ground-pounding Super Late Models at the “Tiger Pit” will be the 602 Late Models ($800 to win), Open Wheel Modifieds ($350 to win), Street Stocks ($300 to win), and FWD’s ($200 to win). In addition to the guaranteed purse for the Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Series, a $200 bonus will also be up for grabs for the highest finishing Limited or Crate Late Model in the 53-lap feature.

The pit gates will swing open at 4:00pm on Thursday, July 28, while the grandstands will open an hour later at 5:00pm. The Drivers Meeting is slated for 6:30pm with cars taking to the racetrack at 7:00pm. Adults will be admitted into the grandstands for $25.00 and into the pit area for $40.00.
