Trooper involved in Hiawassee crash

On Thursday evening the Towns County Sheriff’s Office received a call of an accident with injuries on Hwy. 76 at the Anderson Bridge.

The accident involved a Georgia State Trooper and a pick-up truck.

The trooper was transported to a local hospital with injuries. The driver of the pick-up truck was not injured.

The Towns County Sheriffs Office held the scene and notified the Georgia State Patrol out of Blue Ridge, GA to handle the accident and upon their arrival the accident was turned over to them to investigate.

According to the Georgia State Patrol the accident is still under investigation. The trooper is hospitalized but did not sustain any life threatening injuries and is progressing well.
