Two arrested on drug charges in Towns County


On Tuesday, the Towns County Sheriff’s Office drug agents were investigating drug activity which led to the search of a residence in Young Harris and the arrest of a female. The search resulted in the confiscation of Methamphetamine, which field tested positive, laced with Fentanyl.


Carlie Cristine Russell, age 26 of Young Harris was arrested and charged with: • Possession of Methamphetamine laced with Fentanyl • Tampering with Evidence • Obstruction of an Officer • Possession of Drug Related Objects.


Tuesday evening, a traffic stop was conducted by Towns County Drug Investigators leading to the arrest of Eugene Joshua Ashe, age 42 of Hiawassee.


A search of his vehicle led to Methamphetamine laced with Fentanyl, which field tested positive.


Ashe is charged with: • Felony Possession of Methamphetamine laced with Fentanyl • Possession of Drug Related Objects.


Sheriff Ken Henderson praises the hard work and dedication of the officers’ continued efforts in getting these dangerous drugs out of our county. He states, “We will continue to pursue the illegal drugs entering our county as well as the individuals distributing them.”
