A pair of Georgia track stars reached the semifinals in two events during Monday’s competition at the 2024 Summer Olympic Games.

 

Track & Field

  • Rising junior Aaliyah Butler clocked a 50.52 in the first round of the women’s 400-meter dash to qualify for the semifinals, which will take place on Wednesday at 2:45 p.m. ET. The native of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., placed second in her heat and 14th overall to advance in her first Olympics.

  • Incoming freshman Adaejah Hodge advanced to the semifinals of the women’s 200m, posting a time of 22.94 to finish fourth in the repechage round. The incoming freshman from the British Virgin Islands went on to take 17th in the semifinals with a time of 22.70, the fastest of her Olympic campaign.

  • Tuesday’s track & field action begins with the women’s long jump qualification, which features Chanice Porter of Jamaica at 5:15 a.m. Christopher Morales Williams of Canada will compete in the semifinals of the men’s 400m at 1:35 p.m.

 

Coming Up Tuesday

  • Croix Bethune and the United States women’s soccer team take on Germany in the semifinals at noon on USA Network and Peacock. Bethune was activated to the main roster for the USWNT’s three group matches but returned to alternate status for Saturday’s quarterfinal victory over Japan.

  • Anthony Edwards and the U.S. men’s basketball team open the knockout round against Brazil at 3:30 p.m. on USA and Peacock. Edwards led all scorers with 26 points in the Americans’ win over Puerto Rico on Saturday.
