The Atlanta Vibe (6-3) picked up their second-straight 3-0 sweep on Monday night, taking down the Vegas Thrill (3-6) to close out a successful West Coast road trip. With the win, Atlanta moves back up into a tie for first place in the league and becomes the only team with three sweeps so far this season.

A shake-up in the starting lineup saw rookie middle blocker Magdalena Jehlářová in her first start of the season and Tori Stringer back at setter. Jehlářová finished with 10 kills, four blocks, an ace and three digs in her most complete game of the season since joining the team midway through February.

The Vibe held the Thrill to only 16 points in the first set, the fewest points scored by an opponent in the opening set against Atlanta so far this season. Through the first two sets, Jehlářová and outside hitter Leah Edmond combined for 30 attacks without a single error or blocked hit, resulting in a .550 attack percentage for Edmond (11 kills) and a .700 percentage for Jehlářová (7 kills).

The Vibe now return home to host Vegas on Saturday, March 9 at Gas South Arena. Tickets for that match and all remaining Vibe matches are available at AtlantaVibe.com.

Notes

  • After tonight’s match, Atlanta is the only team with three sweeps so far this season and one of only two teams with multiple (Omaha has two).

  • The Vibe saw a season-low 6 attack errors to finish with a season-best .309 hitting percentage.

  • Three Vibe players finished with double-digit kills in the sweep: Leah Edmond had 15, Anna Lazareva had 11 and Magdalena Jehlářová finished with 10.

  • Vegas’ 16 points in the first set are the fewest scored by a Vibe opponent in the first set so far this season, and the second-fewest scored in any set against Atlanta.

  • Atlanta remains undefeated in sets decided by two points after winning the third set 26-24 tonight; Atlanta is now 11-0 this season in those sets.
