The Atlanta Vibe (8-3) claimed first place in the Pro Volleyball Federation standings after a four-set win over the Omaha Supernovas (7-4) on Thursday night, the Vibe’s fourth win in a row.

The match saw another outstanding performance from Vibe offensive leaders Anna Lazareva (18 kills), Leah Edmond (12) and Leketor Member-Meneh (10), while middle blockers Shelly Fanning and Magdalena Jehlářová led the defensive effort at the net, tallying four blocks apiece.

Setter Whitney Bower made her first appearance on the court after her promotion off the practice squad just a day prior to the match, serving once for Atlanta and picking up one dig.

The Vibe fought through a tight opening frame to come out with a win after a 6-2 run to close it out. Outside hitter Leketor Member-Meneh came out swinging in the first set, hitting .400 with five kills on 10 attacks. A huge lead for the Supernovas in the beginning of the second set helped Omaha tie up the match 1-1.

Lazareva really found her groove in the third set, scoring nine points on 17 attacks (.471) to help keep the Vibe in the lead throughout the set and eventually close it out for a 2-1 lead in the match. Omaha was unable to catch up to the Vibe – who led by as much as 22-9 – in the fourth set.

The Vibe now host the Orlando Valkyries on Thursday, March 21 at 7:00 p.m. at Gas South Arena. Tickets for that match and all remaining Vibe matches are available at AtlantaVibe.com.
