Wingate edges Mountain Lions on late goal

Sascha Larsen's goal with 9:01 left gave Wingate University a 1-0 women's soccer victory over Young Harris College on a wet Thursday (Aug. 25) evening at the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field.
The Bulldogs improved to 1-0-0, while the Mountain Lions slipped to 0-1-0. YHC will host Tusculum University in a 2 p.m. Sunday (Aug. 28) match.

The game was delayed due to weather for 2 hours and 18 minutes.
Larsen's game-winner was set up by Caroline Peters' direct kick from the right side that found Larsen in the middle of the box. Her shot hit off a defender.
Viktoria Einsbor, Tess Preston and Thea Juul each recorded a shot on goal for the Mountain Lions.
Wingate heald a 18-6 margin on shots, but on a 6-3 edge on goal.
Havyn Isaac recorded four saves in goal for Young Harris.
