Wolves take 19-10 decision over Mountain Lions

Scott Reed scored five times as Newberry College defeated Young Harris College 19-10 in a non-conference men's lacrosse match Wednesday (Feb. 8) evening at Setzler Field.
The Wolves improved to 1-0, while the Mountain Lions fell to 0-2. YHC remains on the road for a 1 p.m. match Saturday (Feb. 11) in Wilson, North Carolina, against Barton College.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
Tim Blanch and David Traywick each scored three goals to lead the Mountain Lions, whle Colburn Connelly had two. Gunnar Fagerstrom and Jeremy Rice each found the back of the net once.
Wyatt Peek, Traywick, Rice and Tommy Chriszt each registered an assist,
Newberry took control of the match as they outscored YHC 7-2 in the opening 15 minutes. After each team scored four times in the second quarter, the Wolves outscored the Mountain Lions 5-0 in the third quarter.
Ben Soenen led YHC with five ground balls, while Traywick corralled four more and Jacob Haas and Kieran Isbister had three apiece.
Isbister also caused three Wolves turnovers.
Haas led YHC with eight face-off wins.
Dylan Wilbur accounted for 13 saves between the pipes for the Mountain Lions.
