Yellow Jackets come up short in final home game

The Hayesville Yellow Jackets took their home turf for the final time this season on Monday, Oct. 18 as they hosted the Swain County Maroon Devil. Hayesville entered the contest with a 4-4-2 record while the Devils sat at 9-8.

More than 30 minutes of defense-focused play went by before Swain broke the 0-0 tie with a goal with just over 9 minutes left in the first half. The Devils were able to break through Hayesville's defense for another goal before the half came to an end.

In the second half, Swain managed to find the net to go up 3-0, but Hayesville was able to break through when Kevin Kleckner netted a goal thanks to an assist from Jesus Martinez. Unfortunately, that would be the only goal for the Yellow Jackets. Swain went on to score 2 more goals on their way to the 5-1 win.

After the game, seniors Connor Rexroad and Fabia Nava were honored for their time as a Yellow Jacket.
