Yellow Jackets dominate Jaguars on the pitch

On Wednesday, Oct. 13, the Hayesville High School men's soccer team hit the road to take on the Jaguars from Tri County Early College. The Yellow Jackets were favored going in, and the team followed through, returning home with a 10-1 victory.


It was a scoring frenzy from the early going for the Jackets. Hayesville netted an impressive 6 goals in the first half and carried a 5-point lead into the halftime break.


The second half was more of the same as the Jackets' scoring clinic continued. By the time the final horn sounded, Hayesville had scored another 4 goals to get the 10-1 win.


Junior Isaac Chandler led the charge with a whopping 4 goals for the Jackets. Jacopo Matticari also completed the hat trick with a trio of goals. Wayne Barter, Caden Gordon and Jesus Martinez also found the back of the net for Hayesville. Goaltender Connor Rexroad had three saves in the win.


The Jackets will host their final home game on Monday, Oct. 17 as they face the Maroon Devils of Swain County.
