Yellow Jackets Hold On For Win Over Indians

After jumping out to an early lead, the Hayesville Yellow Jacket varsity baseball team had to rally late in order to pick up the win over Towns County. The battle of Lake Chatuge rivals happened on Monday, April 15 in Hayesville.

With a solid performance from their starting pitcher Cade Caruso, everything seemed to be going Hayesville's way until a disagreement between the officials and Towns County coach Shannon Floyd resulted in the head coach being relegated to the dugout. That interaction lit a fire for the Indians' offense which had been stagnant up to that point.

Hayesville quickly went from leading 6-0, to trailing 8-6 late in the game. When the Indians pulled their starting pitcher, the Jackets saw an opportunity an pounced on the relief pitchers offered up by Towns County.

The Jackets scored 3 runs in the bottom of the sixth to retake the lead. In the top of the seventh, behind relief pitcher Chance Hughes, Hayesville's defense stepped up for a much-needed one, two, three inning to secure the win.
