Yellow Jackets Improve Record With Road Win

One Wednesday, April 3, the Smoky Mountain Conference leading Hayesville Yellow Jacket baseball team hit the road to face conference foe Swain County. It a slugfest, the Jackets were able to outlast the home team to pick up the 12-10 victory. With the win, Hayesville's record improves to 8-2.

Inside the batter's box:

Jackson Sellers: 3-3, 4 RBI, double, run scored

Chance Hughes: 3-5, 2 RBI, double

Kyle Shaheen: 3-4, 2 RBI, run scored

Michael Mauney: 1-2, RBI, 3 runs scored, 4 stolen bases

On the mound:

Kyle Shaheen: 5 2/3 innings pitched, 7 earned runs, 6 hits, 2 strikeouts, 5 walks.

Chance Hughes: 1 1/3 innings pitched, 0 earned runs, 1 hit, 1 strikeouts, 0 walks.

Hayesville will once again load up and hit the road on Friday for the third game of the week. The Jackets head to Cherokee to face the Braves, a team Hayesville defeated 19-0 on April 2.
