Yellow Jackets outlast rivals for overtime win in The Hive

Four quarters weren't enough to settle things between the varsity Yellow Jackets and their chief rival Murphy on Tuesday, Dec. 13 on Hayesville's home court. A strong presence under the basket for the Bulldogs led to the Jackets playing catch-up for most of the second half. The home team evened the score 64-64 in the final seconds of regulation to send the game to overtime. In the extra period, good ball movement from Hayesville forced Murphy to foul in order to stop the clock. The Jackets capitalized and nailed down the 69-66 win in front of a standing room only crowd.
With the victory, Hayesville improves to 3-1 on the season. The Jackets will hit the road Friday, Dec. 16 for a Smoky Mountain Conference showdown with Swain County. Tip off is set for 7:30 p.m.
