Young Harris Defeated by Emory and Henry in Double Header

The Mountain Lions took on the Wasps for game two and three of their series away on Sunday (Mar. 3) afternoon. After dominating Emory and Henry on Saturday, the YHC bats were not as loud this afternoon, scoring one run in 14 innings; it was not a matter of hits that kept YHC off the scoreboard, recording 11 hits over the two games. Emory and Henry walked it off in game one with a solo home run by Ashlyn Rachon to claim a 2-1 victory over the Mountain Lions; in game two, the Wasps hit four home runs and shut out the Mountain Lions 6-0. 


Young Harris falls to 11-7 overall this season and the Wasps moved up to 5-6. The Mountain Lions return to action on Wednesday (Mar. 6) afternoon at 3 p.m., where they face the University of West Georgia in Carrollton, Georgia. 


INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: 

Game 1: 

  • Hannah Carey blasted a home run over left center field for her seventh of the season. 

  • Lydia Taylor and Rachon each homered for the Wasps in their 2-1 win. 

  • Grace Young pitched the full game for the Mountain Lions, recording five strike outs to just one walk and surrendering two runs. 

Game 2: 

  • The Wasps hit four home runs in game two over YHC in their 6-0 victory. 

  • Bailee Brown and Shelby Duncan each got a pair of hits. 

  • Olivia Yates hit two home runs and drove in three runs at the plate. On the mound, Yates pitched seven innings of scoreless softball.
