Young Harris drops GSC opener to UAH

The University of Alabama in Huntsville's Katie Gerber and Chloe Wood each scored four goals as the Chargers defeated Young Harris College 21-10 in the Gulf South Conference women's lacrosse opener for the Mountain Lions Wednesday (March 29) afternoon at Charger Park.
The Chargers improved to 6-7 overall and to 2-0 in the GSC, while the Mountain Lions fell to 5-7 and 0-1. YHC returns to action Tuesday (April 4) with a 4 p.m. GSC match against Shorter University at the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field. Young Harris will recognize its seniors prior to the match.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
Ally Cattoni led the Mountain Lions with four goals, while Ella Hancock added three more. Morgan Lewis contributed two goals, while Ashlyn Fraley had one.
Hancock, Cattoni, Ruthie Mandell and Parker Vaughan each tallied an assist.
UAH held advantages in shots (33-32) and ground balls (31-26), while the Mountain Lions held a 17-16 margin in draw controls.
Kinsley Purser and Emily Flynt led YHC with four draw controls apiece, while Mary Troyer and Hancock had three each.
Hancock, Belle Hardwick, Purser and Maddy Meyers scooped up three ground balls.
Hancock, Troyer, Cattoni and Hardwick each caused two turnovers.
Meyers registered eight saves in goal for the Mountain Lions, while Abbie Gallagher and McKenna Graf had one each.
