Young Harris Falls to Catawba Indians

The Mountain Lions women's tennis team lost to Catawba College on Wednesday (Mar. 13) afternoon, by a score of 3-4. Young Harris battled hard, but it was ultimately the Indians winning two doubles matches that was the deciding factor in the match. 


YHC moved to 5-6 overall this season, and Catawba advanced to 7-2. The Mountain Lions return to play on Tuesday (Mar. 19), when they take on Lee University in Young Harris, Georgia. 


INSIDE THE SCORE SHEET: 

  • Luciana Bejarano and Viviana Gomez picked up a doubles victory for YHC, dominating Catawba College (6-0). 

  • Simone Mercier (6-4, 0-6, and 10-8), Viviana Gomez (6-2 and 6-3), and Meghna Mallath (6-3 and 6-3) each picked up a singles point for the Mountain Lions. 

  • The Mountain Lions and Indians each won three singles matches, but with Catawba taking two of three doubles matches, they earned four points and the victory over YHC.
