COLUMBUS, GA| The Mountain Lions rallied late but fell short to the Columbus State Cougars in Game 3 of the series (Feb 18th). Columbus State won with a final score of 9-5. Young Harris left 14 on base and could not quite catch the Cougar offense this afternoon. However, YHC will go home with the series win.
The Mountain Lions move to 9-1 overall while the Cougars move to 4-7 overall. YHC will return to the Zell B. Miller Field this Wednesday (Feb 21st), where they will host the Tusculum Pioneers at 4PM.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
Jace Wilson (2-4) started things off for the Mountain Lions in the second inning with an RBI single to right field.
The Cougars did not miss a beat and capitalized on YHC's errors to put three on the board in the second inning. Isaiah Hernandez knocked in two more on a single to center field in the third.
Jack Enrico gave Young Harris some light in the sixth. He singled to right field with the bases loaded, scoring two. The Mountain Lions were still chasing the Cougars 6-3.
Derek Wylie hit a solo shot to right field in the seventh.
Jarret Ford (2-4) and Jeremy Begora (2-4) rallied in the eighth inning, each with RBI singles. YHC trailed by two at that point.
Columbus State's Colby Brabston looked to put the game away in the bottom of the eighth as he placed one to right center with the bases loaded. Two runners scored, stretching the lead to 9-5 in the Cougar's favor.
Trace Goforth was awarded the win on the mound after five innings pitched and three runs surrendered. He recorded six Ks in his outing.
