A 66-year-old Brasstown woman, Melissa Vines, was arrested Thursday after intentionally sideswiping a utility worker clearing debris in her driveway, according to Clay County investigator Nick Queen in a statement to WJRB. The incident stemmed from Vines’ frustration with a utility helicopter trimming tree limbs above her property.

Queen reported that Vines drove her Subaru toward a worker who was bagging debris in her driveway, striking and knocking him over. Evidence of intent was found on Vines’ cell phone, where she recorded a video while driving toward the worker. After reviewing the footage, Investigators Queen and Chris Moral determined she deliberately swerved into him.

Vines resisted arrest, leading to additional charges of resisting law enforcement alongside assault with a deadly weapon. The injured worker declined medical assistance. Vines was released on an unsecured bond following her arrest.
