The Clay County Republican Party will hold its annual Precinct and County Conventions on Thursday, March 20, in the restored courtroom upstairs at the Beal Center/Historic Clay County Courthouse, on the Square in downtown Hayesville. The purpose of the conventions is to elect Officers, Executive Committee Members, and delegates to the 11th District and State Republican Conventions for 2024.
Doors open at 4:30 p.m. Everyone must be registered no later than 5:30 p.m. The Precinct Conventions convene at 5:30 p.m. to select delegates to the County Convention, which follows at 7 p.m.
There will be light refreshments, snacks and desserts immediately following the precinct conventions. Attendees are encouraged to bring a covered dish, snack, or dessert to share. The Clay County GOP will provide beverages and sandwiches.
Republican voters registered in Clay County are invited to attend. However, only those Republicans registered on the Clay County Board of Election rolls as of January 31, 2024, are eligible to vote at the conventions. Formal Convention Rules are set forth below in this Newsletter.
