The Clay County Republican Party is gearing up to honor local law enforcement officers at its 6th annual Law Enforcement Appreciation Night, scheduled for Saturday, May 17, 2025. The event will take place from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at West Tubing Company, located at 6175 Old US Highway 64 West in Warne.

This family-friendly gathering aims to celebrate the dedication of law enforcement officers from the Clay County Sheriff's Office, local Highway Patrol Troopers, and other law enforcement personnel serving the community. The Clay County GOP emphasized the event as a way to distinguish their support for law enforcement, contrasting their stance with what they describe as the "Defund the Police" positions of Democrats and other liberals.

Attendees can expect an evening of camaraderie, with hamburgers and hot dogs provided by the Clay County GOP and its donors. The party is encouraging attendees to contribute by bringing side dishes and desserts to share. The event will also feature entertainment for children, as law enforcement officers and GOP members are encouraged to bring their families.

While 11th District GOP Congressman Chuck Edwards was initially slated to attend, a scheduling conflict has forced him to cancel. In his place, Congressional Assistant Lake Silver will make a special presentation on behalf of the congressman. Adding to the event’s lineup, State Senator Kevin Corbin has confirmed his attendance, ensuring a strong showing of support from local Republican leadership.

This special appreciation night replaces the Clay County GOP’s regular monthly meeting for May, with no meeting scheduled for Thursday, May 15. For more details, interested individuals can contact Clay County GOP Chair June West at 706-781-8610.

Recent GOP Activities

The Clay County GOP also highlighted its participation in the 11th District GOP Convention, held on April 26, 2025, at Tuscola High School in Waynesville, NC. The delegation from Clay County included Chair June West, Vice-Chair Larry J. Ford, David R. West, Thomas L. Kemp, Robert Loiacono, James F. Davis, Dwight Moss, Maureen Moss, Christian Reagan, and Hope Reagan.

The convention saw the election of Mrs. Merry Guy from Henderson County as the new 11th District GOP Chair. A notable achievement for Clay County was the election of Robert Loiacono as a Member-at-Large of the 11th District GOP Executive Committee, underscoring the county’s active role in regional Republican leadership.

The Clay County GOP invites the community to join them in honoring local law enforcement and celebrating their recent achievements at this upcoming event.
