Clay County Sheriff's Office Addresses Demonstration Rumors

There has been a significant increase in social media chatter regarding scheduled demonstrations this Saturday much of which is false, inaccurate, or just pure gossip. The Sheriff's Office has been in contact with event organizers who have assured us the intent of their demonstrations is to peacefully assemble and exercise their constitutionally protected rights of free speech.

Past peaceful demonstrations have resulted in no violations of law, no property damage, and no arrests. We do not anticipate any problems with the scheduled events Saturday at either demonstration.

Our goal is to provide a service for everyone, regardless of political affiliation or opinions, so that residents, business owners, customers, and visitors feel safe everywhere in Clay County.

Fortunately, we have established a great rapport with members of our community who have been vital in assisting us with our efforts.
