The Clay County Sheriff's Office proudly recognizes several of its officers for their recent achievements, reflecting their dedication, professionalism, and commitment to the community.


  • Kyle Lickteig has been promoted to Sergeant.

  • Will Suggs has also been promoted to Sergeant.

  • Ethan Henderson earned his Intermediate Certificate from the North Carolina Sheriff's Education & Training Standards Commission.

  • Bruce Moore achieved the prestigious Advanced Law Enforcement Certificate, also awarded by the North Carolina Sheriff's Education & Training Standards Commission.

  • Donovan Burke earned his Field Training Officer (FTO) certification.

  • Cory Scroggs not only earned his FTO certification but has also been selected to become a K-9 officer.


These accomplishments highlight years of dedication and service to both Clay County and the law enforcement profession. Sheriff’s Office leadership noted that these achievements are a reflection of the depth and professionalism that have become hallmarks of their team’s culture.


“We are incredibly proud to serve the citizens of Clay County with such a fantastic group of employees,” the office stated in a press release.
