Late on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, Clay County Investigator Nick Queen conducted a traffic stop on a 2003 Dodge pickup truck near the intersection of Town Mountain Road and US Highway 64 in Hayesville. The driver, identified as 20-year-old Christian Cade Davies of Hayesville, was already out on bond for previous felony charges related to methamphetamine and larceny.

Clay County 911 Dispatch informed Investigator Queen that the license plate on the Dodge truck was registered to a Honda Pilot. During the stop, Investigator Queen observed a sawed-off 12-gauge shotgun lying on the passenger seat.

As Davies exited the vehicle, Investigator Queen noticed a bulge in Davies’ waistband and identified the end of a clear smoking device commonly used for methamphetamine ingestion. Upon seizing the pipe, a search of the truck revealed approximately 3 grams of methamphetamine in a clear plastic bag, the shotgun, 12-gauge shot shells, and additional items. The truck and its remaining contents were impounded.

Davies was arrested and charged with:

Felony Possession of Methamphetamine

Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Displaying a Fictitious License Plate.

Due to his existing bond for prior felony charges, Davies is being held without bond in the Clay County Detention Center.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
