After a week-long investigation, the Towns County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on Wednesday December 4th at Bugscuffle Road on Hwy. 76E.
During the traffic stop, probable cause was developed and a search of the vehicle was conducted. A trafficking amount of Methamphetamine was confiscated along with Opiod/Fentanyl and an amount of cash. The suspect’s vehicle was also seized.
The following individuals were arrested and charged:
Cody Michael Crane, age 37, Hiawassee
• Felony Trafficking in Methamphetamine
• Felony Possession of Methamphetamine
• Felony Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute
• Felony Possession of Schedule II Controlled Substance
• Felony Possession of Schedule II Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute
• Fleeing and Eluding
• Taillight/Tag Light Violation
Charles Edwin Robinson, age 62, Hayesville, NC
• Felony Trafficking in Methamphetamine
• Felony Possession of Methamphetamine
• Felony Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute
• Felony Possession of Schedule II Controlled Substance
• Felony Possession of Schedule II Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute
• Felony Tampering with Evidence
• Felony Failure to Appear
• Fleeing and Eluding
Crane was previously arrested on November 7, 2024, for Possession of Drug Related Objects and was released the following day with a $1,000 bond set by the Probate Judge.
Robinson’s Failure to Appear charge stems from an August 2020 drug arrest.
Sheriff Ken Henderson commends the hard work and commitment of drug investigators and road patrol deputies in intercepting this amount of drugs that was headed to the Towns County and Clay County communities.
Both suspects are currently being held without bond in the Towns County Detention Center.
All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law
