Appalachian State University’s Beaver College of Health Sciences proudly hosted its annual Student Awards Ceremony on April 7, 2025, recognizing exceptional student achievements across its academic programs.
The event took place in the Leon Levine Hall of Health Sciences and highlighted the
dedication, leadership, and academic excellence of students throughout the college.
Associate Deans Dr. Benjamin Sibley and Dr. Adam Hege presented the awards, each
of which was selected by faculty and staff from the students’ respective departments.
Every award honored a single outstanding student chosen from the entire program,
representing the highest level of achievement and leadership within their discipline.

Among this year’s distinguished recipients was Brady Shook, a senior in the Health
and Physical Education and Coaching Program. A 2021 graduate of Hayesville High School and son of Dr. Jason and Laurie Shook, was honored with the Health, Physical Education and Coaching Leadership Award, recognizing his exemplary leadership, commitment to the field, and dedication to fostering a positive learning and coaching environment.
“The annual awards ceremony is a special time to celebrate the hard work and passion
of our students,” said Dr. Sibley. “Each recipient has demonstrated a remarkable
commitment to their field of study and a deep desire to serve others in health-related
professions.”
The Beaver College of Health Sciences continues to prepare students to be leaders in
healthcare, public health, and wellness through rigorous academic programs and
hands-on learning experiences.
