The holiday spirit is coming to Hayesville on Saturday, December 14, with the highly anticipated 2024 Hayesville Christmas Parade. Sponsored by the Clay County Progress since 1987, this year’s theme, "Come Down to Jingle Town," was creatively penned by Sara Teleky, a sixth grader at Hayesville. The festive fun begins at 6 p.m. in downtown Hayesville.

Participants in the parade will vie for awards in various categories, including Most Christmas Spirit, Best Theme Float, Best Faith-Based Display, and Mayor’s Choice in profit and nonprofit competitions. Car enthusiasts can look forward to the Best of Show Classic Car Division.

Parade floats are scheduled to gather at the Clay County Courthouse parking area at 4 p.m. for judging at 5 p.m., with the procession lineup beginning shortly thereafter.

Those interested in joining the parade can do so at no cost, but entry forms must be submitted prior to the event. Forms are due by 12 p.m. on Friday, December 13, and can be dropped off at the Clay County Progress office at Business Highway 64, Suite 4, Moore’s Plaza in Hayesville. For details, call 389-8431.

Important Guidelines for Participants:

  • No Santa costumes are allowed on floats, as the official Santa will make a special appearance at the parade’s conclusion.

  • Four-wheelers and underage drivers are strictly prohibited.

Hayesville residents and visitors alike are encouraged to grab their coats, line the streets, and join in the festivities to make this a Christmas to remember.
