Investigation Leads To Drug Trafficking Arrest

On November 22, 2024 the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit with the assistance of the Clay County Sheriff’s Office ended a 6-month investigation into drug trafficking by Donavan Kurt Fain.


The investigation concluded with a search warrant being executed at his residence in the Ranger area of Cherokee County. The search warrant yielded over 500 grams of methamphetamine, 11 firearms, and drug paraphernalia. Fain is currently being held in the Cherokee County Detention Center on a $802,000.00 secured bond.

Sheriff Smith stated,” we should all be grateful for all the hard work that the men and women at the Sheriff’s Office commit to everyday to keep our communities safe. This is a great example of the time and effort that is put in to a case to help rid the streets of these dangerous drugs and the criminals that are putting our communities at risk.”


Fain is currently charged with:

• Two counts of High-Level Trafficking Methamphetamine

• Possession with Intent to Sell Methamphetamine

• Maintaining Place for Controlled Substance

• Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
