Lovett Has Career Match in Five-Set Loss at Arkansas

Graduate Erykah Lovett tallied 33 kills, setting a new Georgia rally scoring record, in Georgia’s five-set loss at Arkansas Wednesday evening (22-25, 23-25, 33-31, 25-20, 12-15).

 

Georgia falls to 6-5 on the season and 0-1 in SEC play.

  • Graduate Erykah Lovett tallied a career-high 33 kills on her 22nd birthday. She became the first Georgia Bulldog to register 30 kills since Maria Taylor on Sept. 6, 2008 at Duke. Her 33 set a new Georgia rally scoring record, topping Taylor’s mark of 32. Lovett picked up her third double-double, tying a career-high 21 digs.

  • Lovett’s 22nd kill of the match not only set a new career high but it was also the 1,000th kill of her collegiate career. She topped 1,000 digs last Friday and is not a career Double Grand Club member.

  • Graduate Sophie Fischer added a season-high 21 kills and a career-high 10 digs for her second double-double. She finished with nine blocks, one shy of a triple-double.

  • Senior setter Clara Brower recorded her fourth double-double with a career-high 63 assists and career-high 18 digs.

  • Senior libero Baily Cox put up a season-best 28 digs. In total, Cox, Lovett, Brower, and Fischer all topped the double-digit kill mark.

 

Up Next

Georgia has a short break in competition until traveling to the state of Alabama next weekend. The road swing begins Friday, Oct. 4 at Auburn and concludes Sunday, Oct. 6 at Alabama.
