The Young Harris College women's golf team finished in 8th place at the King University Invitational on Tuesday (Sept. 24) evening. Junior Lucy Wiegert had the best performance of the tournament for the YHC women's golf team. Wiegert finished in 9th place of 47 competitors, carding an 11 over par at The Golf Club of Bristol. Union took home first place, shooting 49 over par as a team.

QUOTE FROM HEAD COACH JOHN LICHTENWALNER: "Very clear progress for the team this week. The freshmen shot their lowest rounds of the season so far, qualifying rounds included. The upperclassmen improved from the previous tournament. Because our next tournament is played on a longer golf course, we will be focused on our long iron play and chipping over the next two weeks."

INSIDE THE SCORECARD:

  • Through two rounds, Young Harris shot 85 over par (+46 and +39).

  • Wiegert shot five over par in round one (76) and six over par in round two (77).

  • Connor Johnson had the second-best finish of any Mountain Lion, finishing in 16th place, with an overall score of 15 over par (+5 and +10).

  • Tamara Brito finished the Invitational with a total score of 27 over par (+17 and +10).

UP NEXT:

The Mountain Lions will return to action on Monday, October 7th in Dahlonega, Georgia at the Achasta Golf Club for the LeeAnn Noble Memorial, with play wrapping up on the 8th.
