Murphy Rotary Club Dedicates Peace Pole in a Celebration of Unity

MURPHY, NC — On Monday, June 1, 2025, the Rotary Club of Murphy held a heartfelt ceremony to dedicate a Peace Pole, a symbol of hope, unity, and understanding, in the heart of the community. The event, marked by diverse cultural expressions and shared values, brought together Rotarians, local leaders, and supporters to celebrate peace.
The ceremony featured a prayer in Cherokee by Gina Myers, Manager for Snowbird and Cherokee County Language and Culture, a Spanish blessing by Rotarian Carmen Padin Gomez, a Gaelic Irish poem read by President-Elect Kadee Close, and an English message delivered by Assistant District Governor and Murphy Mayor Tim Radford. The multilingual tributes underscored the Rotary Club’s commitment to fostering peace across cultures.
Special guests included Rotary Governor Nominee Paige Scott, Victoria Ivie of the Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce, Downtown Director Laura LaChance, and Mary Jo Dyre from Steven Aft Insurance, alongside other community supporters. The beautifully prepared site, adorned with flowers planted by Greg and Ginger Rosenberger, added a touching backdrop to the occasion.
Rotary Club President Jacky Egli shared the inspiring story of the Peace Pole’s creation, emphasizing the love, teamwork, and dedication that brought the project to fruition. Following the dedication, attendees continued the fellowship with a lunch at Mariolino’s, celebrating the morning’s success.
The Peace Pole stands as a lasting symbol of the Rotary Club of Murphy’s commitment to peace, inviting the community to share in its message of unity and hope.
