The Old Jail Museum in Hayesville will celebrate its 50th anniversary with a Birthday Bash on May 31, 2025, offering a day of festivities, new exhibits, and entertainment for all ages. Organized by the Clay County Historical and Arts Council (CCHAC) at 21 Davis Loop, the event will run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The celebration will introduce four new permanent exhibits and two featured displays in the museum’s front room. Visitors can explore the Chatuge Dam, the Peavine Railroad, the history of education in Clay County, and the broader history of Hayesville and Clay County, providing a fresh perspective on the region’s past.

A photo contest will highlight the day, with winners announced at noon and awarded cash prizes for their submissions, showcasing local talent in capturing the essence of Clay County’s heritage.

The event will also feature family-friendly activities, including a bounce house for children, games for all ages, and cupcakes to enjoy. This milestone celebration aims to bring the community together while honoring the museum’s legacy.
