Western North Carolina and North Georgia experienced a powerful line of severe thunderstorms overnight, bringing heavy rain, strong winds, constant lightning, and relentless thunder. The storms began around 10 p.m. and continued until approximately 2 a.m., affecting communities across the region.

As of Wednesday morning, Blue Ridge Mountain EMC reported about 150 customers without power. Despite the intensity of the weather front, the number of outages was surprisingly low. Drivers are reminded to use extra caution as roadways could be littered with debris.

The storm system has now passed, and cooler temperatures are expected over the next few days, with highs in the upper 60s to mid-70s.
