On 10/04/24 at 8:05 PM, Clay County Sgt. Steven Smith and Investigator Nick Queen were conducting surveillance in the Eagle Fork Community of Clay County. At this time, they observed a Chevrolet Impala traveling down Thumping Creek Road. They noted the car pulling to the shoulder of the roadway at the intersection of Eagle Fork Road. Investigator Queen recognized the driver as Joshua Emmett Robertson, 37, of Hayesville, and knew he had no valid driver’s license. A formal traffic stop was conducted, and Robertson was asked to exit the car.
Sgt. Smith asked Robertson where his drugs were, and Robertson stated they were probably in the console of the car. Investigator Queen noticed a bulge beneath Robertson’s pants and asked him what it was. Robertson replied that it was “dope” and pulled out a clear plastic bag containing a white, crystal-like substance that field-tested positive for methamphetamine.
Still seeing a bulge in Robertson’s pants, Investigator Queen asked him to empty his pockets. Robertson removed a cloth bag containing another clear bag with a large shard of a crystal-like substance, which also field-tested positive for methamphetamine. The total weight of the seized methamphetamine was approximately 20 grams.
Robertson was arrested and charged with Felony Possession with Intent to Sell or Deliver Methamphetamine. He was given a $30,000 secured bond for his release.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty.
