Towns County Indians Dominate Chattahoochee in 3-0 Playoff Victory

The Towns County High School Indians varsity soccer team advanced in the Georgia state playoffs with a decisive 3-0 victory over the Chattahoochee County Panthers on Wednesday, April 30. The second-round road win showcased the Indians’ attacking flair and defensive strength, propelling them closer to a state championship.
Towns County struck first in the opening half when Caden Coggins scored, assisted by Connor Williams, to take a 1-0 lead into halftime. The Indians turned up the pressure in the second half, with Tucker Engert and Cruz Kitchens each finding the net to secure the 3-0 final. Kitchens also recorded an assist, while Coggins set up Engert’s goal.
The Indians’ offense was relentless, unleashing 26 shots—all on target—for a perfect 1.000 shots-on-goal percentage. Coggins and Kitchens led with five shots each, followed by Engert with four. Blake Gleaton and Jordan Lopez each added three shots, keeping Chattahoochee’s defense on its heels.
Defensively, Towns County was impenetrable. Goalkeeper Dustin Barrett made six saves to earn the shutout, while the backline, anchored by Alex Baert (13 steals), Reed Adams (19 steals), and Engert (15 steals), neutralized Chattahoochee’s attack, limiting them to just six shots on goal. The team amassed 102 steals, showcasing their tenacity.
With nine points from three goals and three assists, the Indians displayed cohesive teamwork. Max Baron and Alex Awtry provided valuable minutes off the bench, contributing to the squad’s depth.
Towns County now moves on to the next round of the playoffs, riding the momentum of this dominant performance as they continue their postseason journey.
