Two Injured in Domestic-Related Shooting at Sand Bar in Towns County

A domestic-related shooting at the Sand Bar on Highway 76 left two men injured late Friday night, October 11, 2024. The Towns County Sheriff’s Office responded to the incident shortly after 11 p.m.


Upon arriving at the scene, deputies discovered two males who had been shot following a confrontation that occurred inside a vehicle in the Sand Bar's parking lot. According to the investigation, one individual approached the vehicle with a handgun, leading to the altercation that resulted in both men being injured.


The victims were transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville. Their injuries were described as non-life-threatening, and both individuals are reported to be in stable condition.


Preliminary findings suggest that the shooting was domestic-related. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) is assisting the Towns County Sheriff’s Office as the case remains active and ongoing.


Authorities have not released the names of those involved as the investigation continues.
