WASHINGTON – Sending a letter or package just became more expensive as the U.S. Postal Service implemented new rate increases this week. The price of a First-Class Mail Forever stamp has risen from 73 cents to 78 cents, marking a notable jump for everyday mailers.
The rate hike extends beyond standard letters. Metered letters now cost 74 cents, domestic postcards have increased to 61 cents, and international letters and postcards are priced at $1.70. Shipping services are also affected, with Priority Mail rates climbing by approximately 6.3%, USPS Ground Advantage increasing by 7.1%, and Parcel Select seeing a 7.6% hike. Notably, Priority Mail Express prices remain unchanged.
These increases could add up quickly for frequent mailers and businesses reliant on USPS services for shipping. The adjustments reflect the Postal Service’s efforts to address rising operational costs, though they may impact consumers and small businesses managing tight budgets. For those sending letters, cards, or packages regularly, the higher rates underscore the growing cost of staying connected through the mail.
