Union County Fire Department Hosts Inaugural Firewise Coalition Meeting

On May 28, 2025, the Union County Fire Department held its first Firewise Coalition meeting at Station 1, marking a significant step toward promoting wildfire prevention and preparedness in the community. The meeting was led by Joe Boone and Frank Riley, alongside members of the Towns County Firewise Coalition and the Georgia Forestry Commission.


The gathering brought together representatives from existing Union County Firewise communities and residents eager to learn about the Firewise program. The session focused on outlining the process for becoming a Firewise Community and emphasizing strategies for wildfire prevention and preparedness. The Union County Fire Department expressed pride in hosting and supporting these efforts to enhance community safety.
