UNION COUNTY – The Union County Fire Department announced that Firefighter Randy Nolan has successfully completed the 40-hour Swiftwater Technician Course, a significant achievement in advanced water rescue training.

The intensive course equips emergency responders with critical skills for operating in fast-moving water environments. Firefighter Nolan underwent hands-on training in Swiftwater rescue techniques, including self-rescue, victim rescue, throw bag operations, boat handling, and the use of technical rope systems. The program combines classroom instruction with challenging practical exercises in real Swiftwater conditions, teaching participants to assess water hazards, manage risks, and execute safe, effective rescues in dynamic environments.

“Firefighter Nolan continues to push himself and represent this department with pride,” said Union County Fire Chief David Dyer. “Completing the Swiftwater Technician course is no small task—it requires grit, focus, and a commitment to safety. We’re proud of his dedication to training and preparedness for the challenges our crews may face.”

Nolan’s accomplishment strengthens the department’s ability to respond to water-related emergencies, ensuring the safety of both responders and the community they serve. The Union County Fire Department congratulates Firefighter Nolan on his commitment to excellence and service.
