The Union County Fire Department is proud to announce that Firefighters Morgan Schmidt, Kyle Mead, and Trey Wall have successfully completed the 16-hour Swiftwater Technician Course, enhancing the department’s ability to respond to water-related emergencies.
The intensive, hands-on training program equips emergency responders with critical skills for operating in hazardous moving water environments. The course covers essential Swiftwater rescue techniques, including self-rescue, victim rescue, throw bag operations, boat handling, and the use of technical rope systems. Through a combination of classroom instruction and practical exercises in real Swiftwater settings, participants learn to assess water conditions, manage risks, and perform rescues safely and effectively.
“I’m incredibly proud of the dedication and professionalism shown by our three firefighters,” said Union County Fire Chief David Dyer. “Their commitment to mastering these life-saving skills ensures that our department is better prepared to protect our community in even the most challenging conditions.”
The Union County Fire Department remains steadfast in its mission: Our Family Protecting Your Family.
