Union County Sheriff’s Office Celebrates Staff Sergeant Jay McCarter’s Appointment to U.S. Marshals Service

The Union County Sheriff’s Office is beaming with pride as one of its own, Staff Sergeant Jay McCarter, was officially sworn in with the United States Marshals Service on Wednesday, May 14, 2025. This prestigious appointment highlights SSgt. McCarter’s outstanding professionalism, dedication, and steadfast commitment to law enforcement.
SSgt. McCarter’s journey in law enforcement began in 2013, and since 2019, he has served the Union County community with distinction. Currently assigned to the Sheriff’s Office Special Operations, McCarter also holds a role as a task force officer with the FBI’s Safe Streets Task Force, showcasing his versatility and expertise in high-stakes operations.
“SSgt. McCarter’s appointment to the U.S. Marshals Service is a testament to his exceptional service and the values he upholds,” said Sheriff Dyer in a statement. “We are incredibly proud to see a member of our agency recognized at the federal level and entrusted with such a vital role.”
