Blairsville, GA -  Sheriff Shawn Dyer has once again demonstrated his commitment to fiscal responsibility by securing essential equipment for the Union County Sheriff’s Office at a fraction of the usual cost. Through innovative partnerships with other law enforcement agencies, the Sheriff’s Office recently acquired a significant amount of Taser equipment, saving taxpayers tens of thousands of dollars.

By collaborating with the Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport Police and the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department during their Taser program transitions, the Sheriff’s Office obtained 20 lightly used Taser X26P devices, 19 Taser X26P holsters, and 558 Taser X2 cartridges compatible with existing Sheriff’s Office Tasers. The total cost to acquire this equipment was just $125 in shipping fees—a stark contrast to the $57,509 it would have cost to purchase these items new.

The newly acquired Taser devices will equip detention officers and deputies with critical tools for their duties, while the donated cartridges will support ongoing training for years to come. Sheriff Dyer’s strategic approach to resource acquisition through partnerships and grants continues to alleviate the financial burden on Union County taxpayers.

The Sheriff’s Office plans to announce additional cost-saving initiatives soon, further showcasing Sheriff Dyer’s dedication to efficient and effective resource management.
