A wildfire in Clay County, North Carolina, identified as Fire Number 2509005775, has burned 20 acres and is 75% contained, according to the North Carolina Forest Service. The blaze, reported on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, remained active as of the latest update at 11:57 p.m. that evening.


Located in District 9 at coordinates 35° 1′ 30.17″ N, 83° 52′ 46.32″ W, approximately 5 miles west of Hayesville, the fire prompted a swift response from Forest Service crews. The cause of the wildfire is under investigation. No evacuations, injuries, or property damage have been reported.


The North Carolina Forest Service continues to monitor the situation and will provide updates as firefighting efforts progress toward full containment.
