The City of Young Harris has received a $20,000 grant from the National League of Cities 2025 Advancing Economic Mobility Rapid Grant Program, funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The grant, accompanied by technical assistance, will support a new initiative to promote financial literacy among residents.
In partnership with Young Harris College and local housing complexes, the city will offer classes focused on budgeting, saving, and financial management to foster long-term economic stability. The program aims to empower residents by addressing barriers to economic mobility and building skills for financial independence.
As one of 12 cities selected for the 2025 cohort, Young Harris will also benefit from coaching and peer-learning opportunities provided by the NLC, reinforcing its commitment to creating equitable economic opportunities for its community.
