The Franklin Panthers varsity baseball team triumphed over the Hayesville Yellow Jackets with a decisive 11-5 win in a non-conference matchup on Wednesday, April 2, at Franklin High School. The Panthers’ potent offense and timely scoring surges proved too much for the visiting Yellow Jackets, who fought back but couldn’t close the gap.

Franklin wasted no time asserting dominance, jumping out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning. They added another run in the second to make it 4-0 before Hayesville responded. The Yellow Jackets got on the board in the third with a single run, cutting the deficit to 4-1. However, Franklin maintained control, answering with a run in the fourth to keep Hayesville at bay.

The Yellow Jackets showed resilience, plating two runs in the fourth and one in the fifth to narrow the score to 6-4. But Franklin’s bats erupted in the sixth inning, unleashing a five-run rally that put the game out of reach at 11-4. Hayesville managed a lone run in the seventh, but it wasn’t enough to spark a comeback, finalizing the score at 11-5.

Franklin’s offensive firepower was evident in their 13 hits, compared to Hayesville’s five. The Panthers capitalized on their opportunities, despite committing three errors, while Hayesville’s two errors added to their challenges.

Hayesville will be on the road again on Friday, April 4 as they travel to face Smoky Moutain.
