For the first time this season, Jacket Nation saw Hayesville High School's baseball and softball teams on their home fields as Pisgah came to town on Tuesday, March 5. The soggy evening ended with the Yellow Jackets celebrating a 5-3 win while the Lady Jackets came up short, losing 8-4.
Over on the baseball diamond, the Yellow Jackets got on the board early with a solo run in the bottom of the first to take the lead. The score stayed unchanged until the top of the fourth when the Bears plated a pair of runs to go up 2-1.
Hayesville evened things up once again in the bottom of the inning with a run. In the top of the fifth, Pisgah again went again with a run. The Jackets had their best inning of the game in the bottom half with 3 runs.
After Pisgah was blanked in to top of the sixth, the game was called as rain continued to fall and darkness began setting in.

For the Lady Jackets, things got off to a rough start in their first game of the season as the Lady Bears had Hayesville in a 3-0 hole before the home team even stepped into the batter's box. The Jackets managed to cut into the lead by bringing in a run. The Lady Bears matched their first-inning production in the second inning to go up 6-1. For the Lady Jackets, the bottom of the inning saw 2 more runs cross the plate to make the score 6-3.
The Lady Bears added to their total with solo runs in the fourth and seventh innings while holding Hayesville to just 1 more run in the fifth to seal Pisgah's 8-4 win.
