The Hayesville Yellow Jackets delivered a dominant performance on Thursday, shutting out the Cherokee Braves 7-0 in a key Smoky Mountain Conference matchup. Sophomore Jackson Dye led the charge with an impressive hat trick, scoring three goals and contributing six total points. Junior Jesus Martinez-Cerro added two goals and an assist, while Josue Salas and Raul Rivera-Prieto each netted one goal to round out the scoring.
The Jackets fired off 18 shots on goal, dominating the offensive play and preventing Cherokee from finding any rhythm.
Hayesville's defense was airtight, with goalkeepers Coldan Rhea and Rivera-Prieto combining for four saves to secure the clean sheet.
The victory brings Hayesville’s season record to 5-5, as they look ahead to their next match on the road against Murphy on Monday, Oct. 21 at 6 p.m.
