In a game that was moved up to Thursday night, Sept. 12th, in hopes of dodging severe weather, the Hayesville Yellow Jackets faced off against the Pisgah Bears in Canton, NC. Despite the adjustment, the rain came down for much of the game, creating tough conditions for both teams.
Pisgah struck first, putting points on the board with 6:14 remaining in the first quarter to take a 7-0 lead. The Bears continued their dominance through the first half, extending their advantage to 21-0 by halftime as Hayesville struggled to find a rhythm on offense.
In the third quarter, Pisgah added another touchdown with 4:17 left, making the score 28-0. A safety early in the fourth quarter, with 9:14 remaining, widened the Bears’ lead to 30-0.
The Jackets continued to battle, but the relentless rain and Pisgah’s strong defense stifled any chance of a comeback. When the final whistle blew, the Yellow Jackets found themselves on the wrong side of a 30-0 shutout.
Hayesville will look to regroup after this tough loss as they prepare for their next game which will be on Friday, Sept. 20th at 7:30 p.m. against Georgia Force. It will also be homecoming for the Yellow Jackets.
